One thing that I took away from this class is learning that there is so much more to stats then a few small calculations. There are so many equations, outcomes, different ways to gather data, etc, that is what makes this kind of math so much different that any other math classes. I also learned from this class that if you do not understand one thing, the first thing, then you are not going to understand anything else that comes. All of the equations build off of eachother to make harder and more complete equations. One thing that I expected from this class was that it was going to be really easy and nothing like how it actually was. I did not realize there was so many equations for figuring things out. When dealing with Stats, I figured it was just collecting data and doing simple math. However, there were so many equations and different ways to figure out the data. Not only was there simply ways to calculate and figure out the statistics of different data numbers but there were also different ways to collect the data.
Statistics and probability can be used throughout our everyday lives. There are a ton of different careers that have to use stats and things everyday to find the outcomes, percentages, probabilities, and other information out about what their figuring out. Teachers, doctors, researchers, pharmacist, experimenters, and so many more people use stats to help their career path and be successful. If I were to take a stats class again I would definitely approach it differently. My mindset would be this is challenging and I need to push myself to do more and be able to figure harder things out. For me, I usually take the easy way out but this class has challenged me because me thinking it would be easy. It was not and it pushed me to be better. There are many ways to use what we learned in this class to help in everyday life and to help me in my future career. Stats will be used in my career path in many ways, I want to be a preschool teacher. Preschool teachers have to use stats in order to calculate the progress of their students. They also have to figure out what is working for what kids and what does not. In every career there are different ways stats and probability are used in everyday life.
